Restoring Clean Water Access After Typhoon Haiyan in Leyte

In 2013, Typhoon Haiyan devastated Leyte Province in the Philippines, destroying infrastructure and contaminating water sources. Years later, many communities were still struggling to access clean water. A local organization, Leyte Water Recovery Project (LWRP), partnered with ODBOX Ventures to launch a campaign to restore clean water access.

The Campaign: “Rebuilding Lives: Clean Water for Leyte”

LWRP created a powerful campaign on www.odboxventures.com, highlighting the ongoing challenges faced by the people of Leyte and the urgent need for clean water. The campaign featured videos of damaged water systems, testimonials from families still recovering from the typhoon, and a clear plan for rebuilding water infrastructure. ODBOX Ventures’ platform made it easy for donors to contribute, and the campaign quickly gained momentum.

The Results

The campaign raised over $150,000 in just four months. The funds were used to:

  • Repair and rebuild water systems in 15 communities, providing clean water to over 2,000 families.
  • Install rainwater harvesting systems to ensure a sustainable water source during dry seasons.
  • Train local technicians to maintain the water systems and educate communities about disaster preparedness.
  • Distribute water purification tablets and hygiene kits to families in need.

The impact was transformative. Families who had been relying on unsafe water sources for years finally had access to clean water, improving their health and quality of life. The campaign also strengthened the community’s resilience to future disasters.

Thanks to the support of donors and the innovative tools provided by ODBOX Ventures, Leyte Province is now on the path to full recovery.
